Applies to: all Webtech customers with a domain registered through Webtech
Domains are registered for a fixed period (usually one year at a time) and must be renewed before they expire. If a domain expires, your website and email on that domain stop working, and after the registry's grace period the domain can be lost entirely — so it's worth renewing early. Here's how.
Before you start
Log into your client area at https://my.webtech.co.za. If a renewal invoice has already been issued for your domain (we generate one automatically before the due date when Auto Renew is on), you don't need to place a new order — simply pay the invoice under Billing > My Invoices. See How to view and pay an invoice.
Renewing a domain manually
- In the top menu, go to Domains > My Domains.
- Either tick the domain and click Renew Domains in the toolbar above the list, or click Renew Domains under Actions in the left sidebar.
- On the Domain Renewal page, find your domain. Its current expiry date is shown underneath the name.
- Choose how long to renew for under Available Renewal Periods (for example, 1 year), then click Add to Cart.
- Click View Cart, review the order summary, and complete checkout.
- Pay the invoice that is generated. Your renewal is processed automatically as soon as payment is received.

Checking that it worked
Go back to Domains > My Domains — the Next Due Date for your domain will move out by the period you renewed. Registry systems usually reflect the new expiry date within a few minutes of payment.
Frequently asked questions
When should I renew?
Any time — renewing early never costs you time, because the new period is added onto your existing expiry date. We recommend renewing at least two weeks before expiry.
What happens if my domain has already expired?
Contact us as soon as possible. Recently expired domains can usually still be renewed during the registry grace period, but once a domain is deleted it becomes available to the public and may be registered by someone else.
Can Webtech renew my domain automatically?
We automatically issue the renewal invoice before your due date when Auto Renew is enabled — but the renewal only happens once the invoice is paid. See How to turn domain Auto Renew on or off.
